If you are on a low income you may be able to get benefit to help with your living costs, your rent and your Council Tax. You may also be entitled to help with other costs like prescriptions. You may be able to get help with your day-to-day living costs through Income Support. If you have a mortgage or other types of housing costs, Income Support may also help towards these. However, if you are over state pension age, you can't get Income Support. You may be able to claim Pension Credit instead You may also be able to get help with one-off expenses from the Social Fund, and help with health, education and legal costs.
